This weeks R.N.E U13s Girls match report :) R.N.E U13’s Girls v Golborne Girls 23/11/13 The girls were away in the league cup again versus Golborne this week. It took a while for RNE to settle down, and the play was quick without many real chances until in the 20th minute Faye made a determined run through and slipped a ball between defenders for Libby to finish. 1-0 to us. Golborne came back strongly from the kick off, and may have equalised but Leah made a good save 5 minutes later. The game was close, but the girls began to get a grip of it and got their reward just before half time. Lauren pushed forward and as the ball fell to her just inside the box she took a couple of touches before firing past the keeper. Then just one minute later Lydia volleyed a shot from the edge of the area which was deflected into the far corner! 3-0 up at half time. Into the second half and some early RNE pressure brought a corner after 10 minutes play. Sophie took the corner and it was helped into the net courtesy of a Golborne head. Ten minutes later the game was well and truly safe as Libby took on the Golborne defence and put over a great cross from the byline for Sophie to score from close range. 5-0 to RNE after 60 minutes. Golborne had a quick break shortly after, and some slow marking from us left them clear to score. 5-1. Still our girls pressed, and after 65 minutes Libbys corner was headed goalwards. The keeper got a hand to it but Lydia was close by to hit the rebound back into the net. Golborne missed a penalty soon after, but RNE were on fire and the final result hardly looked in doubt. With just 5 minutes remaining Libby raided once again and put over another perfect cross. Again Sophie was on hand to put away another goal. Great teamwork!! End result Reddish 7 Golborne 1 This was a resounding win for our girls and thoroughly deserved. Some really good performances all over the pitch. Holly, Faye, and Freya were massive in defence, Lydia & Lauren were really strong in midfield, and the strikers did everything asked of them. A great team effort. Well done girls!!! Goals: Libby, Lauren, Lydia (2) Sophie (3) Man of the match: Leah Coaches Man of the match: Lauren.
