ACTION ALERT - We need you to join the fight for immigration reform. On Monday, March 10th, the “Fast for Families Across America” Bus Tour will stop in Temple and Waco, visiting the districts of U.S. Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX) and U.S. Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) to engage constituents in the fight for commonsense immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship. Local voters and faith, civil and immigrant rights leaders are invited to join “Fast for Families” advocate Eliseo Medina (SEIU) and Cristian Avila of Mi Familia Vota to urge Congressmen Carter and Flores to heed their constituents’ calls and move immigration reform to a vote this year. The “Fast for Families Across America” bus tour – covering 18 states and more than 14,200 miles – kicked off in Los Angeles on February 24 and is targeting 75+ key congressional representatives and mobilizing advocates from across the political spectrum to fast, act and pray for commonsense immigration reform. Waco and Temple are two of eight Texas stops, including Houston, Arlington, Corpus Christi and Plano. “Fast for Families” reignited the immigration debate last November when Eliseo Medina and Cristian Avila – abstained from all food, except for water – for 22 days on the National Mall. Joined by faith, labor and immigrant rights leaders and thousands across the country who fasted in solidarity, the movement drew national attention, including the support of President Obama, members of Congress – many of whom fasted – and national civil rights leaders. fast4families.org/press/fast-families-across-america-call-congressman-carter-champion-immigration-reform/
