ACTION ALERT FOR PA! HB 2350 and SB 2350 (mandating separate regulations for the conventional oil and gas industry) are being considered by the House and Senate Environmental Committees this week. Background: Earlier this year, the DEPs Environmental Quality Board invited comments and, after you pushed them to do it, offered several public hearings on proposed oil & gas regulations (Chapter 78, as some of you will recall). Small mom & pop conventional drilling companies pushed back, attending some of the hearings in large numbers to say that they should not be subject to the same rules as the large unconventional drilling companies. These bills come as a result of that pushback. Conventional drilling, however, poses great risks to the environment and the communities where it is done. Remember, Dimock is a prime example of conventional drilling gone wrong.
