ACTIVE SCHOOL SHOOTER TRAINING EXERCISE The Larimer County Sheriffs Office will be hosting another Active School Shooter Training exercise in northern Colorado. The upcoming event will be held in Wellington on August 4th. This exercise is being conducted with multiple agencies in an effort to sharpen response and cooperative actions should Larimer County ever experience a critical incident of this nature in a school or public venue. These exercises are focused on providing consistent training, familiarization with smaller agencies in the area, mutual aid/resource mobilization, and to facilitate a smooth, coordinated effort should an active shooter or mass casualty incident occur in Larimer County. Local agencies participating include the Larimer County Sheriffs Office, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado State University Police Department, Timnath Police Department, Colorado Department of Natural Resources, and the Larimer County Parks Department. This event will take place at: • Rice Elementary School, Wellington, Colorado Monday, August 4th, 2014 (Initial Exercise begins at 8:00 a.m. Final Exercise begins at 3:45 p.m.) This years curriculum is focused on law enforcement activities. Other critical first responders, such as Fire and Emergency Medical Services, will be on-hand to observe the exercise. We recognize the cooperation that is necessary between all of the emergency responders in these events. It is our goal to continue to develop our training and coordination with our partners in the Fire and EMS community. ow.ly/zLtVj
