ACTS Chap. 26 cont. – TERESA’S EASY RENDITION 19 King Agrippa, I wasn’t disobedient to the heavenly vision. 20 I preached the message to Damascus first, next to Jerusalem, then all over Judea, and lastly, to the Gentiles, saying they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. 21 On account of this, the Jews arrested me in the temple, and tried to kill me. 22 But since I got help from God, I can still testify to this day, both to the lowly and to the great, saying nothing except what the Prophets and Moses said were going to happen. 23 That the Christ would suffer, would be the first to be resurrected from the dead, and would bring light to Jews and to Gentiles.” 24 As Paul was saying these things in his defense, Festus shouted: “You’re going crazy, Paul! Your great learning is driving you crazy!” 25 Paul answered: “Your Excellency Festus, I’m not going crazy. I’m saying the truth with a sound mind. 26 In fact, the king to whom I can speak freely knows these things. I’m convinced not a thing escapes his notice, as this thing has not been done in a corner. 27 King Agrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know you do.” 28 Agrippa answered: “In a short while you can convince me to become a Christian.” 29 Paul said: “I pray to God, whether in a short time or in a long time, that not only you, but also all those who are listening to me today, would become men such as I am, with the exception of these chains.” 30 Then the king rose, so did the governor, then Bernice, and the men seated with them. 31 When they had left, they discussed among themselves, saying: “He does nothing deserving of death or chains.” 32 Agrippa said to Festus: “This man could have been released had he not appealed to Caesar.” End of Chapter 26
