ADVICE! I am new to the group - looking forward to my first Meetup in Thiurroul! I have a 1 and a half year mini doxie, Bruno. I did all the right things when he was a pup, took him to puppy training, did his homework every night etc etc. It doesnt seem to have sunk in at all! Bruno, although gorgeous and loved to bits, is the naughtiest dog ever haha! If I am at home and put him outside in the yard he will bark non stop for hours on end until I let him inside with me. He will not sleep anywhere but IN MY BED, fair enough this may be a bad habit I started, but I have tried to train him to sleep outside my room and he will cry and scratch at the door non stop for HOURS!! never settling. He has massive seperation anxiety, when I am home, he is literally my shadow, if I am sitting on the couch and put the heater on and tell him to go to his bed, he will instead stand next to his bed, look at me and jump and cry to be in my lap. My biggest problem with Bruno is that he hasnt grasped the concept of COME unless we are inside the house and I have treats in my hand. I literally have to carry him from his yard enclosure into the house, as one day he decided that it was more fun to play a game of run away from mum and not come back to her no matter what He would run for 100s of metres and I would be out coaxing him with everything from liver treats to chicken necks and he would just keep running, sometimes into oncoming traffic. Each time this has happened, it is only by being cornered in a neighbours yard that I have managed to capture him! I am very careful now and he has not managed to escape for months, but it is hard that I can never let him off his leash to play with other dogs as I am never sure he will actually come back to me. Seems so strange when at home he cannot be away from me? Anyway, I love my baby and am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar with their doxies and may have some advice. Thanks,
