AEP has reported a total of 2553 customers without power in Perry County at this time. The outage includes the Blackgold shopping center, ARH, the Hazard Village Shopping Center, the Daniel Boone Plaza, and the Typo/Bonnyman area. The ARH is first priority to be restored. The outage is a result of the forest fire located on the Johnny Cox All American Drive that burnt through several structures. AEP is working to reroute the affected customers to other switches to restore power as soon as possible. They anticipate power to be restored to all areas by 3:30 p.m. today. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
