AIBRF Re: DEVELOPMENTS We herebelow report the developments taken place since issuance of the last communication 1. Bipartite Negotiations. As you know that the unions under the banner of UFBU is on agitational path to press their demands and for early conclusion of the negotiation. In this series of action programme, the relay strike was organised from 2nd December, 2014 to 5th December, 2014. However, there is no response from the government/ IBA. At the sametime we have received the following information concerning the settlement which can not be termed as encouraging. (a) We understand that IBA has sent communication to banks to discuss progress on wage negotiation in their next Board meetings and if necessary revisit the mandate given to IBA for next wage settlement at the industry level. We are afraid this is prelude to an attempt to stop industry level wage settlement in the banking industry and is hugely negative news. (b) We have come across the recent communications issued by affiliates of UFBU indicating divergent views on their stand on wage settlement. Four unions representing officer staff have given separate and independent of UFBU call of action programme commencing from 16th December, 2014. (3) Overall political atmosphere prevailing is not very condusive for the early wage settlement. Settlement remains inconclusive and is hanging even after 14 rounds of negotiation, lapse of more than 24 months since expiry of last settlement, no response from the government after meeting of UFBU leaders on 25th June, 2014. In view of the above developments, the overall environment has become challenging and difficult. The retiree issues have progressed satisfactorily so far. However they are directly linked with the settlement and will become reality only when the settlement is concluded. We are keeping close watch on the situation and shall decide future course of action in consultation with the members of sub- committee formed in this regard. We may have to launch some action programme in coming days. We request to be ready to respond the organisational call. (General Secretary)
