AL NOLTE I was invited to share my thoughts about Al Nolte at his Wake. It was a very large crowd that attended. Many were even standing, attending not a sad and mournful Wake. Instead you thought it was a joyful Celebration of a New Life and the foretaste of the Resurrection. Everyone knew Al. It was an unforgettable experience when you were with him that was always accompanied by laughter and delight. It was an honor and privilege to talk about this unforgettable Man. Most of you never knew him or met him. But one day you will. When you will meet him in Heaven, youll never stop laughing and having a great time with him. So here was The Eulogy.... AL NOLTE Life is to give and not to take. Always remember, that Life is to give and not to take. The happiest Man in the world is one who makes other people happy. This could sum up the life of Al Nolte The Great. We are here to pay him tribute. But especially to praise and thank our Heavenly Father for the Gift he was to all of us. Al was a Man so interesting, fascinating, wise, sharp and funny. A strong and manly person who was simply a joy and an entertaining Man to be around. Al had a wonderful balance of when to be serious and when to have fun. He possessed an awful lot of common sense. Al was a Man of strong character. All Man. What made him so special was that he was genuine. He was himself.... No play acting.... no mask.... totally genuine. Like Pope Francis, he was an original. Creative, witty, and very funny. Who could forget his dexterity in telling a story or joke with nuances of stuttering, with his facial expressions and antics to enhance his stellar performances. An interesting facet of Al was, though deeply religious ( and I am learning more now of his mystic gifts and experiences ). He never preached or judged anyone. Or getting on a high horse expounding his religious views..... Always respecting and accepting everyone. Al was an ordinary person in an extraordinary way. Outstanding was his wisdom, practicality, common sense, and he possessed the qualities of Fatherhood pleasing to the Heart of Christ. He had a beautiful simplicity and humility that was so endearing, but a man of no nonsense, and always said it like it was. Gifted, especially with the natural ease and ability to be entertaining. Where ever Al was, you could be sure there was laughter with everyone having a good time. Now, near the end when the Family gathered around him in his hospital bed despite all his pain and suffering, there was so much laughter and carrying on, that the Hospital had never experienced anything like it before. The Family was concerned that the Hospital was wondering what in the world was going on. Al was at the zenith of his Life. He was telling jokes almost to the end, because his thoughts were always about others, despite that he was experiencing the weight of a heavy Cross on his shoulders and gladly offering it up to Jesus,The Lamb of God, in union with Jesus sufferings for others. One of the nurses remarked that Al and his Family made a great impact on her life. Al and Catherine has given their children and grandchildren a legacy and inheritance of a Deep Faith, a Vibrant Hope and a Love generating an enthusiasm of energy in living Life to the Full. Al was a Mans Man.... All Man. He loved to be with his Cronies playing Poker or drinking a beer, or trying to make Tiger Woods nervous when stepping up to tee off. He loved golfing but also followed football and baseball. Jacinta and I are adopted members of the Family and Spiritual Parents of their Three Priest Sons, Fr. Mark, Fr. Walter and Mike now studying for ordination. They gratefully invite YouAll to join them in the Celebration of their Father becoming a New Person in Christ...... With the Joy and Adoration of seeing the Very Face of God and the Beautiful Face of the Ever Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of all Gods Children. We thank our Heavenly Father for the wonderful Gift that Al, Catherine and the entire Nolte Family, are to us all. Thank You God. Finally, A couple of tales that you might enjoy. Al and Catherine went to a Real Estate Dinner and went into the elevator, when Bill Clinton, then Governor of Arkansas also entered the elevator. With a big smile he put out his hand to give Al a hearty hand shake. Its so good to see you again my friend. greeted the Governor. What are you talking about? I never met you, I dont like you and I never voted for you. During the night it seemed the Governor was trying to change Als mind. Being the kind of man that Al was, I believe he also prayed for the Governor. Al had his good friend from Texas visit him. All day he was always saying how great Texas was and all their accomplishments surpassing everyone. Al said nothing. The next day he was taking his good Friend for a ride. When he passed the Big Hospital He said, Ill be dam, that wasnt there yesterday.
