ALANI OF IDOANI CHIEFTANCY DECLARATIONOD.S.L.N. 2 Of 1997 The Chief Edict (No. 11 of 1984)DECLARATION MADE UNDER SECTION 1 (3) OF THE CHIEFS EDICT, 1984 AND CUSTOMARY LAW REGULATING THE SECTION OF THE ALANI OF IDOANI ALANI OF IDOANI CHIEFTAINCY DECLARATION Number of The Ruling House One Names of the Ruling House Obasunloye Order of Rotating in filling vacancies a) Present Ruling House Obasunloye b) Next Ruling House Obasunloye D) The persons qualified to be proposed as candidates by The Ruling House entitled to fill a vacancy in the Chieftaincy Shall be: Members of The Ruling House Of The Male line only. E) Kingmakers: There are twenty-two (22) Kingmakers. 1) Chief Olisa 12) Chief Odofin 2) Chief Oshobodi 13) Chief Olusure 3) Chief Ajiboye 14) Chief Owagboriaye 4) Chief Ajana 15) Chief Elegiri 5) Chief Ohunorun 16) Chief Eleyinmi 6) Chief Agbale 17) Chief Olupara 7) Chief Sanorohwo 18) Chief Olodusi 8) Chief Oluka 19) Chief Odion of Ipara 9) Chief Alamusi 20) Chief Odion of Idosi 10) Chief Oniye 21) Chief Asewa 11) Chief Alasan 22) Chief Alako F. The procedure to be followed in filling the vacancy in the Chieftaincy is as follows:a) Within three months after the death of an Oba,The secretary of the competent Local Government shall ask the Ruling House to present a candidate or candidates within fourteen days from the date of such notification.b) The Head of the Ruling House shall summon a meeting of the Ruling House, composed according to the Local Tradition, to select a candidate or candidates who will be presented to the Kingmakers.c) The Head of the Ruling House shall be the Chairman at the meeting and he shall call for nomination.d) Either the Head of the Ruling House, or the person nominated by the Ruling House shall, within three days of the nomination, present the nominated candidate or candidates to the kingmakers for their acceptance or rejection.e) The Head of the Ruling House shall communicate the name or names of the nominated candidate or candidates to the kingmakers in writing within three days. A letter shall be sent to the secretary of the competent Local Government.f) The kingmakers shall meet within fourteen days of receiving the name or names of the candidates nominated and consider his or their suitability according to custom. Unless a candidate suffers disqualification in accordance with Chiefs Edict, his name shall be submitted by the Kingmakers for consultation of Ifa (If that is the custom) by a person appointed by them for the purpose. Where however there is no unanimity by the Kingmakers, the Kingsmakers shall decide the candidate by a simple majority of votes.g) There election shall take place in the presence of the Secretary of the competent Local Government and the Head of the Ruling House as observers.
