*** ALERT ... Your daily Good Morning message *** I would like to wish everyone a nice Sunday. Todays guest writer is Lyle Zimmerman, one of our beloved Brothers who has been in this family for about one month. Lyle commented on the Smiling message that he always tries to smile at his wife every day. When he hears a particular song, Lyle thinks of her...here are his heartfelt words and beautiful music. Grounded Back when I returned from Vietnam and got out of the Army I was kind of wild. For a couple of years I was searching for something. Acceptance, sympathy, money, who knows I was just kind of angry. I started college (junior) and always sat in the back of the class. For some unknown reason I hate having people walk up behind me. Another after-affect I guess. One day I was in one of the student lounges and this girl walks up to me and asks if she can sit down. We started to talk and she asked why I always seemed to be a little out of it. No reason. After a couple weeks of every other day talking in the lounge, she said lets go for lunch. Went to a local Cafe in downtown Oak Harbor. We sit down and she asks me Are you a Vietnam Veteran? I guess she had talked to her parents about me. Her Dad had been in the Army Air Corp during WW2 and retired from the Air Force in 1968. He told her he is probably a Veteran. We started going out more and more and I became less angry. A year after we started going out I asked her to marry me. She grounded me and brought me back down to earth. She made me a human again so to speak. Many years later we went to Hawaii and I heard this song by some Hawaiian guy everyone called IZ. His real first name was Israel. Anyway, this song In this Life takes me back to the realization that she grounded me many years ago. Almost being married for 39 years now, she still has me grounded, and I love her for it.
