ALEX Salmond has been accused of “silly posturing” over his repeated demands for a televised debate with David Cameron and of attempting to turn the referendum into a Scotland versus England contest. The Prime Minister has again dismissed the First Minister’s calls, claiming he was dodging direct questions on his separation plans. He added: “Alex Salmond wants the question to be about anything other than the question. So he would like the debate to be the SNP versus the Tory Party, or Scotland versus England. It’s not, it’s a debate between Scots.” Mr Cameron insisted the head-to-head TV debate should be with Alistair Darling, leader of the Better Together campaign, who accused Mr Salmond of trying to avoid a debate with the people of Scotland. The former Labour Chancellor said: “We know what Alex Salmond is up to here. He wants to make this a contest between Scotland against England, and people aren’t going to fall for that. “This is a debate we need to have within Scotland as to the future of our country. telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/scottish-politics/10342618/Salmond-accused-of-silly-posturing-over-demands-for-TV-debate-with-David-Cameron.html
