ALL-GRID TEAM Men Whittling the GRID’s talent of men down to 5 spots for 2014 ALL-GRID Team is a bar-room argument with no clear winner. If you were to place all the candidate names into two hats, one for the masters and the other for the rest, you could choose 5 men randomly and have a team that would compliment the ALL-GRID Team Ladies. It took some serious consideration trying to narrow the team to 5 men. Master Male: The teams used this category in two ways, weight moving NY Rhinos, Ron Mathews, LA Reign, Chris Dozois, Miami Surge, Steve Platek or body weight specialist, DC Brawlers, Jerry Hill, or SF Fire, Chad Augustin. I decided to go with Philly Founder, Seth Silva, similar to his counterpart, Amanda Allen, he was asked to do a little of everything for his team and provide leadership, able to provide body weight proficiency or move some barbells. Male Closer: Phoenix Rise, Danny Nichols: There is no one in the league faster with the barbell at heavy weight then Danny Nichols. While there may be others, who could be as strong, I will count on Mr. Nichols’ power and speed, with the match on the line. Male Utility Player: DC Brawler, Christian Harris: This is by far the toughest category but Mr. Harris proved to be the cream of a very rich crop of talent, including EZ Muhammad of the Rhinos and Alex Anderson of the Surge. Male Body Weight Specialist: San Francisco Fire, Buddy Hitchcock: While an argument could be made for Mike Abgarian of the Iron and Ivan Hernandez of the Rhinos. Mr. Hitchcock’s jumping ability and ability to move weight put him above the rest of the league. Male All-GRID Team starter number 5: Miami Surge, Nick Urankar: An all-around GRID athlete who can be utilized in any situation. Off the chart strength, body weight proficient and can serve as leader of the team if need be. So there you have it, the GRID League Watcher’s 2014 ALL-GRID Team. There were many names left on the cutting room floor that could’ve made the team, EZ Muhammad, Mat Fraser, Sam Dancer, Noah Ohlsen, thus the reason for bar-room arguments.
