ALL SLIDING HILLS ON MUNICIPAL PROPERTY HAVE BEEN DEEMED TO BE SAFE FROM ANY KNOWN HAZARDS Just to update the situation on sliding hills in Greater Sudbury, out of the 16 hills that are frequented by residents of the City, the only hill that is going to remain closed is the one at Queens Athletic Field. Staff confirmed at Council meeting last night that all other 15 hills have been examined and they are satisfied that the hills are safe for the activity that has been taking place this winter. The City does have liability insurance for all activities that take place on City property and while none of the hills are officially designated as sliding hills, the staff will ensure that the grounds are safe for that kind of activity. Children and parents are still advised to take precautions to use the facilities safely and responsibly, but there is no fear that the hills will be closed since they do not pose any known risk to participants. The CBC has provided a map in the link below showing the locations of all 15 safe hills. Staff will continue to monitor the sites to make sure that conditions remain safe. cbc.ca/news/canada/sudbury/city-staff-to-review-sliding-in-greater-sudbury-1.2900000
