ALLAGASH. To quote the last the lovely lines Robert Louis - TopicsExpress

ALLAGASH. To quote the last the lovely lines Robert Louis Stevenson used as his epitaph, Home is the sailor, home from the sea, and the hunter, home from the hill. I want to write a piece later in praise of librarians and libraries (beginning with Faye OLeary Hafford, right here in Allagash) and Fort Fairfield was no different. Jennifer Gaenzle is amazing, and yet brand new in her job as library director. I had NEVER BEEN to Fort Fairfield. How astonishing is that? And in using my own brand of logic that has followed me down the years, I saw a small fort similar to the one in Fort Kent, and thought, How interesting. Fort Fairfield has a fort, too. Really, Cathie? Do you see that first word in the towns name: FORT. That might have been a big clue. The library there, like the others on my route, is also stunning and a warm fireplace greeted me. And what lovely people turned out, a couple from Perth, NB. Tomorrow, Im driving to Fort Kent to meet Allen and sign books as I have lunch at the Swamp Buck so that I can also add any Christmas messages. People have been buying the books as gifts to friends as well and yesterday I signed a book to a 3-month old baby, for her to read one day! We are also getting orders for my middle grade book, THE SUMMER EXPERIEMENT, set in Allagash (for ages 7 to 12) and my last novel, A YEAR AFTER HENRY. Allen Jackson is the worlds smallest independent bookstore and has all my books in stock. You can also buy the Christmas book on the website, EthelBooks, and not pay any postage if you live locally. Or you can pay Allen (834-6221) and pick them up in Fort Kent, in plenty of time for Christmas gifts. The book can also be mailed to you. See website choices. There was no time this year to meet bookstore orders, but I thank booksellers for their kind interest. But ALL OF MY BOOKS, signed, are at: FORT KENT: Market Street Co-op MADAWASKA: Inn of Acadia The Secret World of Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus is at: Above places, and via the website, or Allen Jackson. PRESQUE ISLE LIBRARY (signed, with percentage going to library fund) STOCKTON SPRINGS: Whites Farm Mercantile BAR HARBOR: Shermans Books As usual, thank you for reading. EthelBooks
