ALLAH GOT BANNED. In the interest of mutual respect and compromise - TopicsExpress

ALLAH GOT BANNED. In the interest of mutual respect and compromise along with national security, Malaysias highest court has upheld a ban on non-Muslims using the word Allah when referring to God. More specifically, non-Muslims can continue to use the word Allah on the street and when in church - for now at least - but the Catholic Churchs Herald newspaper cannot print the word because that could confuse local Muslims and lure them into converting, which is a crime in much of the land and such attempts have sparked some nasty violence in the past. Although many local Malaysian Muslim activists took to the streets on Monday to celebrate, I believe they have misinterpreted the underlying meaning behind the governments ruling. They said youre really dumb. They didnt use that exact phrase, but when the government bans a Catholic newspaper from printing a word because that could confuse the people and lead to apostasy, theyre saying youre really dumb. Thats the only plausible explanation for someone who picks up a CATHOLIC newspaper, sees a single word, then gets confused and decides to jump ship and switch teams.
