ALLY McCOIST could see his Rangers team extend its League One lead - TopicsExpress

ALLY McCOIST could see his Rangers team extend its League One lead even further tonight but remains adamant the title race is far from over whatever happens. The Light Blues go into their game in hand with Dunfermline 11 points ahead of both the Pars and second-placed Ayr United. A 15th consecutive victory in all competitions would take Gers 14 clear of the Honest Men and it’s no surprise some fans are already speaking of an inevitable trophy success. Yet that’s not the stance being taken within the Ibrox squad and the management certainly don’t want anything to be taken for granted. They are working hard to guard against complacency and win, lose or draw this evening, McCoist wants his men to keep applying pressure and building momentum in the long run. He said: “It would be really, really pleasing to extend our lead. After just over a quarter of the season, it would be a fantastic advantage to have. “I don’t see too many championship medals being handed out in November though so we’ll have to keep our momentum going. “I want our team to keep its level of performances up and we obviously have to keep winning our matches as well. “If we’re fortunate enough to beat Dunfermline, the result would give us a great lead at this stage but nothing more than that. “As I’ve said all along, as long as people within our football club don’t think the same way as everyone else we’ll be fine. “We’ve got a job to do and it’s our job to keep on winning and to maintain our good form and run of results. “People can say and write what they like. The fact of the matter is we will have to keep performing and keep our level of performances up to the level we demand. “There’s no hiding the fact if we do give the performance I want and get three points against Dunfermline it would give us a fantastic lead but there’s a long way still to go.” TICKETS FOR TONIGHTS GAME ARE STILL ON SALE - CLICK HERE NOW FOR FURTHER INFORMATION AND TO SECURE YOUR PLACE AT THE MATCH! //Stevie
