ALMOST DEAF... I like pigs (QUASI SORDO... Mi piacciono i maiali) 6,7,8 february 2015 - h:20, Aker Stadt Palast - Berlin (Germany) 6, 7 march 2015 - h:20 Theater Reutlingen Die Tonne - Reutlingen (Germany) Created and performed by Vito Alfarano Original Music: Simone Pizzardo Costumes: Elena Frigato For a deaf person, silence is a normal condition. For a hearing person, silence is related to sounds. The hearing audience will approach diversity by seeing voices and listening to music through the vibrations perceived by their bodies . The choreographic development is inspired by the Italian Language of Signs. The inspiration behind the signs is a quotation about the meaning of life by Charlie Chaplin. Here, the two worlds of deaf and hearing people, traditionally apart, can find a chance to get in touch: this is a place where what you say matters more than how you say it and where to see means listen. As a rebus this performance was built for a hearing and deaf audience, analyzing the conditions of the deaf in society. My aim is giving voice to diversity through choreography, an expressive form of art which captures the point of connection between object and concept, where the concept becomes emotion and sensation. Running time: approximately 12 minutes. Finalist project GD’A Puglia Prize 2011, realized with the support of Dansystem, within the PO FESR Puglia 2007-2013 Asse IV Azione 4.3.2., entrusted to Teatro Pubblico Pugliese by Regione Puglia.
