ALTERNATIVE AND AGGREGATED GAS AND ELECTRICITY SUPPLIERS The City of Cincinnati negotiated a special low rate for the City ELECTRICITY Aggregation program. I want to be part of that, but it hasnt been easy. The City Electricity plan is with First Energy Solutions. I just got a letter from First Energy, which has been my alternative electric supplier, offering a special low rate. (.057xxx cents per kWh). Looked good on Apples to Apples Ohio Public Utilities website.(LINK) INCIDENTALLY, the price to compare is printed on your Duke bill and is their regular rate for residential customers. But turns out I had to make a special call and request to enroll in the city aggregation plan, which is significantly better: 23% less than the price to compare or Dukes regular rate, which comes out to .047201 / kWh. To join First Energy Solutions, call them : 877-283 0685. Now for GAS, there is also a city aggregation plan, and it is with Duke Energy Retail, not the same as Duke Energy. You have to call them to enroll when your current alternative gas contract is expiring. Call 877-331-3045. I had to first convert onto regular Duke Energy Retail, and then watch it attentively, calling back at the right time to get enrolled. It is my impression that not only is the aggregation a better rate, but also that the city negotiated a green clause, so that the electricity is more from renewable sources. Its been a long slog! good luck. ellen
