ALTITUDE: I caught this on late night public television. There just wasnt anything else to watch (and I was doing projects) except for screaming info-commercials and screaming religious people. The plot seems intriguing at first: the daughter of a small plane pilot killed in a mid-air collision is now a pilot herself. She and a few friends fly off to avoid traffic going to a concert. Equipment failure drives them into a storm that may (or may not) harbor some evil being and is, apparently recreated on a sound-stage causing everyone to look silver and purple. This is all well and good, but all the characters do, on any consistent level, is scream at each other (who knows they might be religious) and its witless, redundant screaming. The main attraction is that they are all young and good looking and...um...well thats about it. The only recognizable actress is Julianna Guill (who provided the only worthy scene, in all her glorious, gratuitous nakedness, in the useless FRIDAY THE 13th remake) who looks a bit like Hillary Duff but is not naked in this movie. As far as I know. (public television, remember?) When the only thing memorable about a movie is how naked a co-star was in another bad, (though apparently more memorable,) movie, than Huston, we got a problem. The script is hackneyed at best, but then it shoehorns twists without any sense of logic, and steals blatantly from Steven King,Twilight Zone and H.P. Lovecraft, adding nothing fresh or the least bit more interesting than the movement of lint. You know, if lint screamed incessantly. The cover design hints at a giant Cthulhu like creature pursuing a small plane. That kind of happens. Or does it? By the end the twists are so ludicrous and, yet, predictable that you wont care one way or another. But to be fair, the miniature of the plane in the storm was kind of neat.
