EX SPEAKERS FORUM CALL FOR IGPs SACK OVER INCIDENCE THE Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has lamented that his life is in danger and that if he should be shot, the police, allegedly acting under the instruction of the government, should be held responsible. Amaechi made this assertion amid a wide range of condemnation that has trailed the prevention of the governor and his guests, compromising members of the former Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, from driving through Forces Avenue to the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Thursday night by the police. Amaechi and his entourage were returning to his official residence after inspection of some infrastructural projects in the state when the incident occurred. The governor, while reacting to the incident, Friday said the level of impunity in the country today could be likened to those experienced during the era of military dictatorship. He blamed his political plights on the belief by some persons that he was disloyal to the president because he is suspected to be against his plans to seek re-election in 2015. All of you saw how the former Speakers came down from the vehicle to tell them (police) where we were coming from, but the Police resisted. It is for Nigerians to see that we no longer have democracy in this country. We are now in a regime where the law is no longer supreme.
