AMAZING NEW SYSTEM OF VOCAL TECHNIQUE!!! FREE YOUR VOICE, INCREASE YOUR RANGE, POWER ETC ETC!!! Of course Im joking! But, like every reputable singing teacher I know, I never cease to be amazed that singers are so easily duped by dodgy individuals, books and websites. These often claim some great new discovery - a singing Messiah has finally come and shown how silly all the great singers were to be doing all this hard work! They typically have had a short performing career, if any, and make all kinds of implausible claims and invariably its all presented as easy. Richard Miller is generally regarded as the towering figure in singing teaching of the last half century - but he never developed a system with a business cliche or his name all over it - no, he developed the ingenious teaching of Bel Canto that he learned over many years and married it with modern scientific understanding and tools. He shared this in his books and teaching. If you want the truth, singing, like anything, at a high level involves daily hard work. When Callas was asked what her greatest achievement was she answered immediately that it was the long hours in the practice room. Heres an old video which shows Domingo driving to and preparing for a performance. What is he doing? Applying and exercising all the Classic Italian techniques - appoggio breathing, aggiustamento vowel management etc etc. He didnt invent a single technique BUT hes had a long, prolific, vocally healthy, MAGNIFICENT career. QED!!!
