**AMERICAS PREPARE-ATHON** April 30th is America’s PrepareAthon - a nationwide, community-based campaign for action to increase emergency preparedness and resilience will providing a national focus for individuals, organizations and communities to participate through drills, group discussions and exercises to prepare for local hazards. On April 30, Americans are asked to implement one simple preparedness action to mitigate their risk and reduce their vulnerability to one of the following hazards: tornado, hurricane, flood, and wildfire. The goal of this campaign is to increase the number of individuals who: •Understand which disasters could happen in their community •Know what to do to be safe and mitigate damage •Take action to increase their preparedness •Participate in community resilience planning What can I do? •Register to participate in America’s PrepareAthon! and provide details about the activities you’re planning. •Ask all your staff to put In Case of Emergency (ICE) into their phone and download the FEMA app. •Spend the day doing emergency preparedness outreach by hosting a presentation or information fair. •Practice a shelter-in-place drill in your office. •Have an office competition for the best go-bag and award the winner!
