AN EVENING TO REMEMBER: Tonight my dear granddaughters wanted to bless us all - and they surely did! What a treat they gave us all! They hatched the idea of a fancy tea party and then et about making it all happen. Kami and Kaira worked together this afternoon and made a chocolate chip cookie square to serve at the grand affair. They phoned Grandpa-in-training, Howard, and invited him for tea at 7PM. Then they called their uncle Michael and issued the same invitation. A nice, hand-written invitation appeared beside my computer desk in my office, in fairly short order. Invitations for their parents Bryan and Cheri were also hand delivered. Then they got really busy! Living room furniture got shifted around until everything was just right. Fancy tablecloths, napkins and runners were brought out of buffet drawers. Small tables were brought in from outlying rooms and draped with tablecloths or runners. Candles were gathered, lit and the mood was artfully set. Candelabra were artfully placed and lit. China plates were made ready and carefully placed on the counter. Menus of food, freshly brewed coffee and many kinds and varieties of tea was hand drawn with artful and careful flair. Excitement was in the air! After the guests arrived and were greeted and seated, the grand and formal even began and the menus were handed about. Our Server Kaira collected the orders while our Chef Kami assembled the ingredients made to order for each guest... Tea and coffee were served, with just the right amount of honey, sugar or cream - or just plain, if the guest wished. The fresh baking was served, with grateful praise. It was wonderful! Paul Wilbur kindly serenaded everyone quite joyfully from within the CD player on the bookcase in the corner. A great performance, surely! Our two lovely servers treated us to a dance at the very end of the tea - to much appreciative applause. The girls blessed us tremendously this evening with a gift of their time, energy, creativity, service - and most especially, their love. I feel so honored by them. So very blessed. I know how blessed I am, and I am ever so very grateful. And amazed.
