AN ODE TO STAY AT HOME MOMS: The other day, someone - TopicsExpress

AN ODE TO STAY AT HOME MOMS: The other day, someone asked my wife what she did, and she replied that she was a stay at home mom. to this, the other person replied so you dont work? As if to imply she lives a life of leisure, sitting by the pool at the mansion, eyeing the pool boy while having grapes fed to her by musclebound boys fanning her with palm fronds. She didnt say she doesnt work, she said shes a stay at home mom. If taking care of kids wasnt work, day care providers wouldnt charge anything, babysitters would pay you to come over and watch the kids. Of course she works! Shes a stay at home mom. If you would ask me which one of us makes the most money, its me. I go to work to make money to support my family. If you ask me who does the most to support our family, that answer would be her, hands down. Having money is important, but the importance of properly raising our kids, and supporting our family far outweighs the importance of possibly advancing to the next tax bracket. When I go to work, I get paid in dollars and cents. When my wife gets paid, its in love and appreciation. I dare you to try to do what you do, and get paid in love and appreciation. I realized recently that my wife needs a raise, at least in the appreciation department, that is what prompted this message. Thank you for all you do, both around the house, and for the kids and me. We could never say it enough, but we really appreciate all you do for us. Maybe next time someone says that they are a stay at home mom, we could stop treating them like some kind of scourge on society, and more like the underpaid, overworked, unappreciated, always on duty, and on call, hardworking part of our lives that we couldnt do without.
