ANA PRESS #Damascus #Syria: Since morning at least 20 air strikes carried out by Syrian warplanes hit the Jobar district of Damascus, which is witnessing ground and aerial bombardment by Syrian government troops that have launched a heavy assault in an attempt to take control over the area. A number of regime elements were reported killed in the clashes against opposition forces. Aerial bombardment targeted also the Zabadani mountainous area of Damascus, which was hit by four barrel bombs dropped by Syrian military helicopters and six rockets fired by fighter jets, in parallel to clashes that took place in its outskirts after the attempt of regime forces to regain control of the two checkpoints taken over by opposition forces in the past few days. Furthermore, Syrian forces tried to storm the Zebdeen and Bala areas amid tanks and artillery shelling. On the other hand, several shells landed in different areas of central Damascus as Qassa, Al Malki and Mezzeh 86 as well as in the Adawi highway leading to a number of wounded among civilians.
