ANAMBRA PDP LAWMAKER DEFECTS TO APGA A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member of the House of Representatives, Chriscato Ikechukwu Ameke, yesterday defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The lawmaker, who made his decision known in a letter addressed to Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said he was defecting due to the crisis in the Anambra chapter of the PDP, which led to the emergence of three different factions. Rep Ameke, whose letter of defection was read at plenary by Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, added that his defection followed wide consultations he had with his constituents who mandated him to join APGA. He said he was joining forces with the APGA-led Anambra State government for the betterment of his people. “My decision was due to the leadership crisis of the party in my state. There are three factions in the party in my state that have thrown the party into confusion. This same situation had led to disintegration in 2011. My constituents have mandated me to leave PDP to APGA in my state and join the state government. I am therefore joining the 3-man APGA caucus in the House,” the letter said.
