ANC STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF BENJAMIN MOPHATLHANE OF BUSINESS CONNEXION The African National Congress has been saddened by the sudden passing of Benjamin Mophatlhane at the age of 41who has been a CEO of Business Connexion, an empowerment Information and Communication Technology (ICT) company that rose from an SMME to being the second biggest ICT outfit in the country that employes over 7 000 people. Business Connexion has operations in Africa including Kenya, Nigeria as well United Kingdom. Mr Mophatlhane who was a driven entrepreneur defied the odds to be a founder and CEO of a listed entity that has become a visible corporate feature of our country. Mr. Mophatlhane who was a young and ambitious starter in the 1990s together with his twin brother opted for the difficult route of business as opposed to employment. With determination and consistency they broke the poverty ceiling to a world of competition thus creating a legacy for future young entrepreneurs. His departing has robbed South Africa of a young bright mind that was a pioneer and an achiever. We call on young people to emulate and follow on his footsteps to claim their place in the corporate world. The business community particularly those who are still trying to learn survival and ultimately carve a place in the mainstream of the economy have been left poorer. We believe that his rise and that of Business Connexion will be a lesson for aspirant young entrepreneurs. His relentlessness to break new ground will inspire future generations to prosperity. To his family and the corporate family we pass our heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in peace!
