ANC YOUTH LEAGUE PRESS STATEMENT: ANC Youth League Western Cape to demonstrate against racism outside Cape Town Magistrate Court The ANC Youth League in the Western Cape will demonstrate outside the Cape Town Magistrate Court in Barrack Street, Cape Town from 9 am today as we express our solidarity with Khayelitsha resident and domestic worker, Gloria Kente. Her employer’s boyfriend stands accused of racially abusing Gloria at the employer’s home in Table View. Gloria has been working and staying at her current employer’s home for the past eight years. The racial abuse allegedly started when the boyfriend moved in six years ago and apparently reached a boiling point on 28 June 2013. Our expression of solidarity with Gloria is a protest against abuse perpetrated by evil racists in a democratic non-racial South Africa. Through our support for Gloria the ANC Youth League wishes to send a strong signal to all racists that it will not tolerate their immoral tendencies. Via democratic means we will make the Western Cape uncomfortable and unbearable for those who continue to clutch onto an apartheid mentality. White supremacists must realise that black South Africans and the African majority in particular sacrificed much of their dignity and rights so that those who oppressed them and continue to benefit from their oppression were saved from the wrath of the oppressed masses. We will continue to safeguard the dignity of our peace loving and forgiving people.
