AND, THE RIGHT INGREDIENT… An update on the chocolate pie…. Yesterday, Beth took another shot at making one, after the discovery that we had used the wrong ingredients. Great result! Two great pies – all according to “plan”, because this time we followed the plan! Any of us can get it wrong – the real winners are those who realize there are times when we need to revisit past actions and doctrines, to be sure we are following the “Plan”, be open to receive help, and have the humility to acknowledge and make the necessary adjustments. In a practical way, we are in line for some real tasty eating – unlike the day before, when we threw away some ruined ingredients. Some religions, and religious people are good for nothing but to be thrown away, because they ultimately serve no good purpose – the reason? They did not follow the plan…. Matt 15:9 “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Truth be told, we did ALMOST everything, and used ALMOST all the SAME ingredients, we had the day before…In fact, the only difference was we used “just” ONE unauthorized ingredient. And, we were just as sincere the first time, as we were the second time…we fully expected to succeed at our first effort….you might say we had “faith” in it….but using the wrong ingredient “done us in”… To succeed in cooking, if you have a specific dish in mind, you must follow the recipe – otherwise, whatever value you assign the finished product, it will NOT be the dish you were promised, because you didn’t follow the plan. To succeed in gaining the right relationship with God, you must follow His recipe – otherwise, whatever benefit you think to gain by your efforts, it will not be the result God promised you, because you did not follow HIS plan. And, innovating an ingredient or two for the pie, even if it diminishes the taste of the end product – doesn’t matter. But, adding to, or changing an “ingredient” or two, in God’s plan will have everlasting and disastrous results. Yes, using the wrong ingredient in God’s plan, will surely “do you in” (and being sincere and trusting in God will not, under those circumstances, change the fate He promised to the ones who act unlawfully.)(acb)
