< AND THINGS SEEMED TO BE GOING SO WELL > I am waiting for an operation on my spine which would return my legs to walking condition ... BUT!!! ... the new super hospital at Southmead, Bristol as had to put a hold on certain surgical procedures. The problems are: 1. In the cancer radio-therapy unit, someone has left out the correct thickness of lead-lining to stop radiation contaminating the area surrounding the unit. This lead MUST be exact, or better than the specs required by the specialists. 2. The specialist spinal-neurosurgery theatre has some defects in the design and placement of the unit, and its equipment provision. This has caused a waiting list of over 100 urgent spinal surgeries to be put on hold ... I am informed it could take years to rectify. So, instead of expecting a call to proceed to the hospital (10 minutes from my front door) for my op ... I am 1 of over 100 now waiting. This super NHS Hospital was built with private funding and much vaunted by our glorious Conservative Government ... you know, the ones whose pals get all the plush contracts, charge well over the odds, and take short-cuts to bring a project in on time. I imagine some Tory pals made some quick bucks here, and now we, the NHS Patients suffer yet again. DONT VOTE FOR THE LIB/LAN/CONS ... THEYRE ALL LIARS!!! Ted. (Stiff upper lip and continue in pain)
