Allison Peters, Your News Now News video: hometownstations/story/27733590/the-bite-of-a-pitbull-ordinance-in-st-marys#.VKP1eYm6pyx.facebook Not everyone agrees on the type of dog for mans best friend. The new pitbull ordinance was a debated topic at St. Marys Council. Many community members gathered to rally against an ordinance that has already been passed. Prior to its passing committee meetings were held addressing safety concerns with pitbull breeds with no objections from the public. With the ordinance going into effect in 30 days after its approval reactions were heard at council requesting a change. The ordinance outlines breeds commonly known as pitbull or dogs with pitbull characteristics to have new restrictions. Community members argue that its not the animal but the caretakers who bring out a dogs temperament. Another committee meeting will be held to hear opposition and council will be able to decide if they want to reconsider the ordinance or leave the new law in place.
