ANIMAL OF THE WEEK: Meet our leopard geckos, Miss Honey, Matilda and George. George is a new addition to the Scales and Tails family and he loves sitting on everyone’s laps! He even goes to sleep if he is really comfy! Matilda and Miss Honey will also happily walk across your hand if you are really still – they’re still a bit fast! Leopard Geckos come from South-Central Asia and like dry, rocky deserts and grasslands. Matilda is the natural pattern for a leopard gecko, whereas George and Miss Honey are special morphs that have been made popular through the reptile business. Leopard geckos are able to shed their tails if threatened, which helps protect them in the wild from predators. Their tail will grow back but will never look the same as the original. Any extra fat is stored in their tail which is why George has a massive tail as he certainly likes his food!
