ANITA AALTO AWARDED AS FINLAND’S HR DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR 2013 2/1/2013 M.A.Ed., MBA Anita Aalto from Vahanen Group was awarded as HR Director of the Year 2013 in a gala held at Finlandia Hall on Wednesday 30th of January 2013. Through presenting the award the organizers Management Events and Hay Group wish to bring forth the strategic role of human resources and evoke conversation on good human resources management. This year the theme of the award was development of a genuinely motivating and inspiring organizational culture and atmosphere at work. The criteria for selecting the HR Director of the Year were i.a. evidence of true partnership with business, valued by colleagues in the management group, a HR function that is clearly part of supporting and developing business processes, increase in the added value of personnel’s human capital and development of employer image. The HR function, directed by Ms Aalto, got excellent feedback on their operations at Vahanen Group. “We believe that when our people enjoy their work, also our clients receive the best service possible,” commented one of the management group members in the questionnaire. We believe that we differentiate ourselves from other players in the field because people are the basis for all our operations. With our People first –theme we have achieved good client and personnel satisfaction results. “The company’s management is committed to strategy supporting, participatory HR management which the CEO actively drives forward. This is apparent in i.a. meeting agendas of the management board which always include HR management themes. We have systematically invested in i.a. developing the company’s management know-how, strengthening specialists’ know-how, and passing on knowledge as a part of the whole company’s strategy. A concrete example of HR as a part of business management is the operation model in which each business area has its own HR contact person to support managers in the wide-ranging field of HR management,” states Anita. The functionality of the HR contact person model is reinforced in a comment from one of Vahanen’s management group members that states “In her role as HR Director, Anita is always one step ahead of business needs and in the management group she works as a partner who supports business”.
