***ANNOUNCEMENT*** Dear Readers, The rumors of EastWords - TopicsExpress

***ANNOUNCEMENT*** Dear Readers, The rumors of EastWords demise have been greatly exaggerated. Over the last couple of weeks, there were some legal issues that arose regarding ownership of EastWord. At long last, and by a friendly agreement, Alexander Media Group has regained ownership. During the time we did not own the paper, EastWord News and EastWord Extra missed a week of publication. Anyone who has been in the newspaper industry knows that this is a serious blow. This coupled with the computer virus attack we experienced a short time ago dealt us a severe punch to the gut. What this means is that EastWord News and EastWord Extra can no longer be published in print. Print costs are too high to maintain while still charging advertisers what we feel is a fair price. EastWord Online will still be published, and we hope it will grow to be THE place for Eastern Oklahoma County news. We are drawing up plans to build the website to include more information most wanted by the readers, such as school news, latest garage sales, employment opportunities, etc., and it will allow us to do more in-depth reporting of local news. Additionally, the website will allow us to get new and late-breaking information to you more immediately than the weekly paper did. If you are a subscriber, we will be reaching out to you over the next few days to get you refunds for your subscriptions at a prorated amount. The same goes for those advertisers who prepaid for print advertising. Friends, it will take more than a computer virus and a misunderstood business deal to keep EastWord down. Stay tuned. The news is on its way! Sincerely, Shawn Garza Publisher EastWord News Alexander Media Group, LLC
