ANNOUNCEMENT: I have been struggling with a problem for some time now and it has come to the point where I have to do something or do away with the G6PD Deficiency group. It is taking so much of my time that I am unable to do some things that I have been wanting to do that I believe will be very beneficial for those with G6PDD. Webinars, videos, book and website updates, phone app, the new G6PD Deficiency Foundation website are all taking a back seat to answering the same questions over and over again. It takes only a few seconds to search the group for vitamins, formula, etc. and it takes me much longer to answer these questions. Another problem is that the time Im spending on the group is hurting me and my family financially. Keeping the website live, sending out newsletters, shopping cart, etc. all cost money, not to mention time. So there are going to be some policy changes starting immediately that I hope will solve these problems. 1) Please search the group or visit g6pddeficiency.org/wp/ before asking a question. Many of the most common questions are answered there and especially at g6pddeficiency.org/wp/faq/ 2) This group will no longer be ad free. Part of my problem has been that I realize that many people just cant afford my books, a membership in g6pddeficiency.org/wp/, brochures, etc. and I dont want to exclude anyone from help, but I just cant continue answering repetitive questions for free. Putting ads on this group will, hopefully, help pay for some of my time. This does NOT mean that anyone who wants to can advertise goods and services in this group without my written permission. I will continue to remove the ad and the person responsible for posting it. 3) For those who want an ad free group I have created another secret group that can be joined by invitation only. In order to receive an invitation you must: - purchase something, - donate money, - or in some other way contribute money, time or resources to my efforts to help those with G6PDD. This new group will get most of my time as well as exclusive access to some exciting new stuff. Like webinars, videos, etc. It is available to everyone, regardless of financial situation by doing things to help. Ask me how. By having a group that doesnt have people asking the same questions over and over, perhaps more time can be spent making suggestions and talking about ways to improve the distribution of information or solving G6PDD problems. 4) After thinking about this and considering the financial situation of others as well as my family, I am going to make more parts of the website available to members only. My mantra is providing a hand up, not a hand out. I do not want to prevent anyone from knowing the truth about G6PDD because of financial circumstances. Being poor is not a crime nor something that should be punished. That would not be ethical, in my opinion. I will provide ways that anyone can become a member, such as submitting their story, pictures, or in some other way contributing time. Ask me how. Im hoping that these changes will usher in a new era for the advancement of the truth about G6PDD. Like you, Im learning and will continue to make mistakes along the way. It is important that we learn and grow from these mistakes so that we can save more lives and garner more truth about G6PDD. If you think you have met the conditions stated above and would like to be included in the new group, send me a PM. That will be easier for me than trying to figure out for myself who to invite. Im very excited about the new group and hope that it will be instrumental in making significant advances in our knowledge of G6PDD. Money and effort are the driving forces of change.
