ANNOUNCEMENTS 10-31-2014 The freshman football team defeated Bay City last night 50-13. Offensively the Necks were led by the four TD’s of Keithan Taylor and a 2 point conversion. Taylor had 3 rushing touchdowns of 37, 56, and 42 yards and added a punt return for a touchdown from 53 yards. Also adding touchdowns offensively were Jose Zaragoza from 30 yards and Tranquail Harris added two long TD runs of 80 yards and 65 yards. The offensive line dominated and were led by Ernesto Cervantes, Bailey Stroud, Mason Hunter, Jeremiah Graham, Tommy Janak, Clifton Spoon and Joaquin Martinez. Also scoring for the Necks were Jarrett Brown on a 2 point conversion, Karch Kaspar with 3 extra-point kicks and Tyler Russell with an extra point kick. Defensively the Necks held Bay City scoreless through the first 3 quarters and were finally able to score near the end of the game. For the first 3 quarters the Neck defense did not allow a first down and forced Bay City to punt often. Leading the way defensively were Jack Russell, Kyle Stanford, Jordan Salazar, Davion Kerns, Reggie Thomas, Payton Listak, Landis Wilson, Tommy Newman, Willie Myles, Christian Ortega and Sedrick Green. Columbia improves its overall record to 8-1 and 4-0 in district and will travel to El Campo next Thursday for a 5 pm game and play for the district championship! Spanish club members that are attending the movie day Tomorrow. Please come by today and sign up. We need to meet there by 5:15 movie starts are 5:40. Spanish club you need to come to E8 to sign up for the DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION… We will be celebrating on Wednesday Nov 5th… Picture retakes will be November 5th. Freshmen: Your candle fundraiser will begin this Monday, November 3rd. The order forms will be in your English I classes. The money from this fundraiser goes directly into your activity fund, which will in the future pay for your PROM. Let’s get off to a good start this freshman year. See Mrs. Baker in Room F-110, if you have any questions. All orders are due back by Friday, November 21st. The book club will have a meeting at 7:05 a.m in the library. Your shirt money is due then. Juniors: Do NOT forget your butterbraids. SELL THEM! Prom depends on it! Interact: There will be a meeting in C106 on Thursday right after school. We will be discussing our Christmas project. CHS Students: The early bird deadline is approaching fast for yearbook orders. If you want to get the best price possible, hurry and get your orders in! Seniors: If you or your parents are interested in purchasing a Senior Ad in the yearbook, pick up a form from Mrs. Kincannon or get one off of the CHS link on the CBISD website. Seniors: Project Graduation will be selling Dominoes Discount Cards. If you are interested in buying a card or selling the cards see Gretchen Finley or Damara Fondren? Cards are $10 for a free medium pizza with the purchase of a large pizza. You will get points for selling the cards. We only have 200 hundred cards to sell so get yours asap because once they are gone there will be no more ordered. Did you recently take the TSI exam? See Mrs. Blanks to discuss your scores and Spring registration. Are you currently taking college classes? See Mrs. Blanks to plan your Spring 2014 college classes. Spring registration begins Monday, November 3rd. Do not procrastinate! Visit with Mrs. Blanks, the Brazosport College Counselor. She is at CHS on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Attention Juniors! You still need A LOT of money for Prom. Every single one of you needs to pick up a Butter Braid order form and sell butter braids to raise money for your prom this year. As of right now you are way behind. If there is no money, there will be no prom. You can get an order form from room C106. Want to be featured in this years yearbook? Do you have grandparents that went to school at Columbia High School? If so, come by room C106 for information to be featured in this years yearbook. The Brazoria County Texas A&M University Mother’s Club will award a minimum of four $500 scholarships to graduating seniors selected from among the eligible high schools. If you plan to attend Texas A&M University at College Station or Galveston, stop by the guidance office and pick up eligibility and application requirements. Applications are due by December 1, 2014. Class of 2017 sophomore shirt sale: We have 1 each left of small and large grey and one each left of small/medium/large black. Price reduced to $10.00 to sell asap so we can close out this fundraiser! “Students who have been accepted by a college or university need to come by the guidance office to have Mrs. Durham take your photo.” The zombie apocalypse scholarship has been added to the scholarship bulletin.
