ANNOUNCING GUEST FACULTY ROSTER FOR 2014-2015: Roberta Russell – Core Faculty, Lighting Design (on sabbatical 2014-2015) Katherine Davis – Adjunct Faculty, Theatre Graphics Katie Davis is a multi-disciplinary designer with a diverse background in theater design, environmental graphics, architecture and digital fabrication. She is the founder of Kanawha Design Studio, a Seattle-based firm focused on narrative and design in the built environment. Katie’s work dwells in the creative and unpredictable results of mashing up design disciplines, including residential and commercial remodels, product design, environmental graphics, installation art and any other projects that come up. She holds a BA in Technical Theater and Design and a Master of Architecture and teaches Environmental Graphics at the Seattle Central Creative Academy and rapid prototyping and 3D modeling workshops at local maker spaces. Ben Zamora – Interim Faculty, Lighting Design Ben Zamora is continuously creating new work that challenges the relationship of the viewer to their environment and addresses universal themes of birth, death, and transcendence. His most recent large-scale light installations have been seen at the Frye Art Museum, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and with Kronos Quartet. Zamoras artistic collaborators have included video artist, Bill Viola, Director, Peter Sellars; LA-based artist, Gronk, conceptual artist, Eleanor Antin, Degenerate Art Ensemble, and the architecture firm, Olson Kundig Architects. His projects have been seen at venues around the world, including the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles; the Mariinsky Theatre in Russia; Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York; Royal Festival Hall and The Barbican Center in London; Stockholm’s Baltic Sea Festival; the Helsinki Festival; the Berliner Festspiele; the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland; Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles; DeDoelen in The Netherlands; Salle Pleyel in Paris; Madison Opera; and locally at ACT, Intiman, and Portland Institute of Contemporary Arts T:BA Festival, among many others. With director Peter Sellars, Zamora has implemented designs for projects including The Tristan Project; Toni Morrisons Desdemona Project; Orango, with the LA Philharmonic; and a European tour of John Adams opera, The Gospel According to the Other Mary. Most recently, Ben designed world-premiere productions for acclaimed playwrights Luis Alfaro and Octavio Solis in Los Angeles. Zamora is one half of the visual art team, LILIENTHAL|ZAMORA. Brendan Patrick Hogan – Adjunct Faculty, Sound Design Brendan Patrick Hogan is a Seattle based sound designer, composer and musician. He is the Resident Sound Designer at ACT Theatre and has also worked locally at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Capitol Hill Arts Center, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Next Stage and Washington Ensemble Theatre, where he was a company member for many years. His designs have been heard nationally at Arizona Theatre Company, Center Theatre Group, George Street Playhouse and Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre. Brendan received the 2012 Gregory Award for Outstanding Sound & Music Design for Red at Seattle Repertory Theatre. He previously taught Audio Recording and Production at Seattle University. Brendan received his BA in History from the University of California Santa Cruz. He is a member of American Federation of Musicians/Musicians Association of Seattle Local 76-493.
