ANONYMOUS NAIL TECH NEEDS ADVICE...Hi there I love your page and think its an amazing tool to help aid the nail professional, and I thank you and applaud you for it. I was hoping that you could post this anonymously as for the fact I do not want to come across as the nail police, but in hopes to only educate.... It is somewhat disheartening and alarming to see other nail professionals using the product name shellac as a service term. Shellac is a product innovated by the brand CND, it is NOT a service but only a product. It is one thing to have to educate the client in knowing the difference but very frustrating when the nail pro themselves use the word so loosely. CND Shellac is a power polish unlike gel polishes it removes easily and WITHOUT ever filing on the nail (unless its on top of an enhancement), most gel polishes require either filing on the nail plate or filing to help remove the product, this is why CND Shellac is its own entity and should not be in any comparison to these other products. When you offer a manicure or pedicure service that has the addition of a gel polish they should state gel polish mani/pedi or BETTER yet state the products name within the service term this will help to further the reach to clientele who may be looking for that specific product and if the client is unfamiliar with that product the nail pro should be educating the client as to why the product they are using is the best, if the nail pro can not or does not offer this information to the client or explain why it is the best then STOP using that product! You ruin product names when you can not or do not use it or talk about it correctly! Educating your clientele enforces their loyalty and trust in you. Empower yourself as a nail pro know what your using and follow manufacture instruction! Otherwise dont call yourself a professional. Thank you.
