Fall Opera 2014 - Nov. 13, 14, 15, 16 Double bill set in 1938 Hollywood: Amelia goes to the Ball by Giancarlo Menotti & Hollywood Night Club by Kurt Weill. Performed with orchestra, double cast, and sung in English. FOR AUDITIONS: Please prepare: an operatic aria or song in English, Menotti if you have it, or one operatic aria in Italian, and one Kurt Weill piece or American Standard (Irving Berlin, Gershwin, etc...). Pianist provided. You may bring your own accompanist if you wish. Arrive 15 min. before your audition. Be prepared to fill out an audition form listing your fall schedule/conflicts. - Available Roles- Amelia - Soprano The Friend - Mezzo or Soprano The Husband - Baritone The Lover - Tenor The Maid - Soprano or Mezzo The Cook - Soprano or Mezzo Night Club MC - Acting role 6 Night Club Performers - Soprano/Tenor/Baritone/Mezzo 7 Night Club goers - Acting role Cigarette Girl - Acting role 3 Waiters - Acting role 2 Policemen - Acting role *The Theatre Dept. will also have representation at our May audition: OPEN AUDITIONS FOR LES MISERABLES The School of Music & Dance is collaborating with the School of Theatre, Television & Film on a concert production of Les Miserables to be performed at the Don Powell Theatre on December 4-7, 2014. We would like to invite any current music students to audition for any of the principal roles in this production. Director Paula Kalustian and Music Director Robert Meffe will be attending the auditions for the opera production in May of 2014 and will be calling back some of you for a more thorough audition in the Fall. Please prepare a short selection (32 bars maximum) in the style of Les Miserables (you may sing from the show) in addition to your selection for the opera.
