IGNORING SCHOLARS VIEW WHEN IT CONTRADICT THE SUNNAH All praise is due to He, the Lord of incomparable majesty, we beseech his benediction upon the prophet S.A.W, his companions and entire followers of His sunnah. Its no doubt that all we need in the matter of Deen is obedience to Allah and his Messenger S.A.W and leave others (school of thoughts) view when it contradict the sunnah. This is even proven by all these Imaams, refuting following them blindly as people do argue when you inform them such and such act is against the Sunnah, we are following Imam Malik, Abu Haneefah etc. Lets considers some sayings of the four Imams 1. Imaam Abu Haneefah R.A said, when a hadith is found to be sahih, then thats my madhhab- al-Haashiyah (1/63) of Ibn Aabideen * it is not permitted for anyone to accept our views if they do not know where we got them- ibn Abdul Barr in Al-Intiqaa Imaam Maalik ibn Anas R.A said: 1.everyone after the prophet pbuh will have his sayings accepted and rejected- not so the prophet -as-Saalik (227/1) *truly, I am only a mortal: I make mistakes and I am correct (sometimes). Therefore, look into my opinions: all that agrees with the Book and Sunnah, accept it; and all that does not agree with the Bøk and Sunnah, Ignore it -Ibn Abdul Barr in jaami Bayaan al-ilm (2/32) Imam Shaafii R.A also said, When a hadith is found to be sahh, then that is my madhhab - Imam Nawawee in Al-Majmoo(1/63) *The Muslims are unanimously agreed that if a sunnah of the Messenger of Allah SAW is made clear to someone it is not permitted for him to leave it for the saying of anyone else- Ibn Qoyyim 2/361 Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal R.A *do not follow my opinion; neither follow the opinion of Maalik, nor shaafii nor Awzaai, nor Thawri but take from where they took -ibn Qoyyim in ilaam 2/302 * whoever reject a statement of the messenger of Allah SAW is on the brink of distruction- Ibn al-jawzi page 182 These are just few of their sayings about following what is authentic in the sunnah neglecting their own view contradictory to it. I wonder why do do follow their shuyukh blindly this days. May Allah rectify us all.
