ANOTHER ONE OF CEDS MOVIE REVIEWS...TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: well unfortunately I wasnt assigned to review this one on the website....but yall know I have been waiting on this one for over a year so I have to do my own. Before I review it I have to point out two things: 1. This movie proves that you cant believe ANY rumors about a film before its release. Just go see for yourself because folks dont know what they are talking about. People were calling the movie dumb as early as last year because they said Shredder was being played by a white guy when hes supposed to be a ripped, Asian martial artist. Well guess what...he WAS Asian. Folks were saying it would be a failure because the turtles were going to be aliens. Guess what....they were NOT aliens. Smh....dont let the rumors stop you from seeing what you want to see. 2. As Ive said a few times in the past, these so called professional critics are complete idiots. They have panned this movie so badly its ridiculous. They actually had me nervous about seeing it today. They said it was all action with no real story...false. They said the turtles are just monsters with no real personality....false. So basically, dont listen to any critics going forward unless its me. ;) Now that my vent is over, heres my review. If my childhood could be described by any movie, its the original TMNT along with part 2(I pretend part 3 never happened). I actually had my parents take me to the old 99 cent theater in Muscle Shoals twice to see part 2. A couple of my Christmases were actually Ninja Turtle themed....I had every action figure including the pizza throwing tank!(shout out to my folks for those awesome memories). So I actually felt my childhood depended on this being at least a decent movie. Well for 3 hours today, I was 9 years old again. First off, Megan Fox is hard to tolerate in any movie, but she actually wasnt horrible in this. Thankfully we get more turtles than April though. Also, the cgi turtles and Shredder didnt bother me at all. The turtles were given just enough personality and Shredder was just bad ass enough to make me forget that. My favorites growing up were Leonardo and Donatello as I Identified with them....Leo was the firm level headed leader while Donatello was the soft spoken book worm. Well they got Leo completely right...he was perfection. They did ok with Donatello except I feel they went overboard with the nerd aspect. I hated Raphael as a kid...I just felt he was a prick with a bad attitude...they definitely got him right because as a 30 year old man, I still hated him. I was ok with Michelangelo growing up but I also thought he was overly corny most of the time. Well they actually improved him in this reboot....I thought he was hilarious from start to finish. Im still not sure how I felt about Splinter in this one. In the original, he was just a wise old rat but in this reboot, he seemed more so just old...not so wise. However, I was very pleased with his meeting with Shredder in the sewer. That scene in the original made me fighting mad when I was a kid....this one had me almost as mad. The storyline wasnt overly complicated but it had plenty of depth for the type of movie it is. I found that extremely refreshing after sitting through Transformers this summer. The fight scenes are just immaculate....exceptionally brutal for a PG-13 movie. It didnt feel 2 hours long at all to me and I actually want to see it again. I may be very biased on this one because of how nostalgic the experience was for me. At one point, a lil boy sitting behind us stood up and shouted Cowabunga!...to see that happening in 2014 was extremely cool to me. The entire experience was just awesome. The one complaint I would have is that the movie was missing Casey in the hockey mask...but hopefully well get that in the sequel. Alright Ill shut up about it now. I grade TMNT.....A.
