ANOTHER SSPPS REMINDER: A SHOUT-OUT to ALL SSPPS MUSICIANS: Don’t forget to bring your acoustical musical instrument and voice to the SSPPS Conference. There will be special times where you can “jam” with other musicians. On Monday evening, December 9, the monthly “Park Jam Session” will be going on at the Lodge, featuring local folk musicians from the area. Also, on the Big South Fork/Blue Heron field trip for that Wednesday, there will be a session (before the train ride) featuring bluegrass musicians and the different fingering techniques/role of the Banjo. I know SSPPS has quite a few talented musicians among this organization (including Jayd Raines, park naturalist for Breaks Interstate Park in Virginia, who plays regularly with Marty Raybon and other well-known bluegrass musicians). And, we also have the “MARYLAND BUNCH” that have always been the “center” of entertainment. So, please bring your instrument (if you have travel room). Also, don’t forget GIFT ITEMS for the annual SSPPS Auction as funds raised go toward the planning of next year’s 2014 event in Tennessee. Best regards to all! Ron Vanover, Kentucky State Naturalist
