ANYONE KNOW OF A LAWYER SEND THIS TO HIM IN HOPES FOR JUSTICE Kayla Hendershot My story of what happen to Mariah At 26 weeks pregnant I found out my daughter had CDH but at this time the ultrasound tech at stone crest could see Mariah’s lungs forming they were small but she had lungs. I was then sent to Vanderbilt for care with the high risk team my 1st appointment was on January the 10th I had ultrasounds an a MRI I met with a bunch of doctors there after my ultrasound they told me it was confirmed she had CDH doctors told me what would be likely to happen when Mariah was born she would be put on a ecmo machine an need surgery. On January 14th I went in for an amino reduction cause on January 10th they said my fluid level was too high they said there is a 1% chance it could make my water break but it was unlikely to happen. On January the 17th at 9 pm my water broke an I went to Vanderbilt where they said I would be ok that they wasn’t going to deliver her and they stop my contractions I was in vandy for two weeks listen to people tell me my daughter was going to die after 2 weeks I left Vanderbilt an came home to my 3 kids who needed me as the doctor said she would do the same thing cause I could lay at home like I was there to On February the 4th I went in for another ultrasound an yet again they said I had to much fluid an needed another amino reduction I kept saying no cause I didn’t want my water to break anymore and the nurse an doctor came in and said I was being selfish cause if I didn’t do it Mariah wouldn’t survive so I let them do it when they were doing it I felt them an my boyfriend seen them hit something they said it was nothing that Mariah had grab the needle on Friday February 8th I went to my ultrasound Mariah was breathing and we see her lungs but the doctor wanted us to go to Vanderbilt she came in and said its Friday so I don’t want to deliver her today but I’m sure u will have her by Monday if I went into labor to call 911 an get to the hospital Sunday night February 10th at 11 pm my water broke all the way I called 911 and was taking to vandy when I got there they still didn’t want to deliver her they said they wouldn’t take her out till the 19th on Monday morning the baby doctor an surgeon came in they said they would deliver on Tuesday cause at 3 pm on Monday an ecmo bed would be ready for Mariah so I ate dinner an at 5:30 I went to pee an Mariah’s head was coming out we yelled for the nurse she came in an pushed her head back up in me an they called the on call doctors an took me to the or for a C-section never once did they call my doctors or her doctors in the doctor delivered Mariah and they did CPR an then took her away we knew something was odd cause we had been told the who time that her daddy would be able to go with her but when they left they said he couldn’t go. They came back 45mins later an called my b/f out into the hall and said they could put her on life support or ecmo cause she had no lungs so they said they could bring her in the or an let me watch her die or they could bring her in recovery an let me hold her while she died so I said recovery cause I had questions I wanted to know why they didn’t put her on ecmo or life support I got to recovery they came in I kept asking the doctor over and over why he didn’t an isn’t putting her on ecmo or life support he said she had no lungs . They weren’t going to weigh her or anything we had to keep asking finally they did she weight 5lbs 4 oz. He then placed her in my arms an undid the CPR bag and she grabbed mine and her daddy’s finger and took her last breath. I felt like I was dying I didn’t let her go for 2 days till they had to do the autopsy.. 3 weeks later her autopsy came back I called his office he said he would call me back on lunch he did then he said she had lungs they were small and that he put Mariah in life-support but he felt it was best to take her off life support the nurses and doctors were rude to us . The plan was Mariah would go on ecmo an life support until her surgery Dr. Benjamin didn’t even try any of that he didn’t give Mariah a chance. Mind you the doctor said the day she died that he couldn’t put her on life support or ecmo cause she had no lungs but then when the autopsy came back he changed it to he did put her on there but felt it was best to take her off. First off no one has the right to make that decisions except me her mother. PLEASE HELP IS TO GET JUSTICE FOR HER AN HOPEFULLY HER CASE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON OTHER BABIES AN FAMILY THANK YOU
