ANZ review: I just got charged another $150 admin fee for an account I havent used for years. I hadnt closed the account because the bank made it very difficult to do so. So today I tried again. I remembered last time part of the issue was that it couldnt be done on the phone. So I went in to a branch. I waited in line for 20 minutes. I then noticed a business customer start a new line. Im a business customer, so I jumped in when the business teller was finally available and pointed out there was no clear signage about the separate line. She looked at me like I was being difficult. The customer in the business line looked at me like I was scum for cutting in line even though I explained I was a business customer. Then the teller said she couldnt help me close accounts. That had to be done by the other team up front and I should line up there. There was no line, just seats, so I sat. 10 minutes later a lady helped me close one account, charged me $4.35 to do so, and said the credit card could only be cancelled on the phone. I asked what number. She said the one on the card. I couldnt be bothered explaining I dont have the card anymore and left. I called the bank and entered my customer number via the automated system. Then I got a person and had to say the customer number again. Then I got told Id have to be put through to card cancellations and got transferred. I had to enter my customer number again. Then I got a person,... who.. yep... asked for my customer number again. Then I got told Id been put through to personal card cancellations not business.. so got transferred again. I entered my customer number again. Then a person asked for my customer number again. Then he said I had to fill in a form. Excuse me!!! are you kidding. I told him Id just been at a branch and was told this had to be done on the phone. He explained that that was true, and that now I had to fill in a form. They emailed me a form. I filled in the form (with my customer number on) and faxed it back to them. ........... I wonder if Ive really seen the back of this horrible bank once and for all. sigh... Of and by the way, I also went into a Westpac branch today and the service was awesome.
