AP Environmental Students went on their second Project Periphyton filed trip of the year to go to a local river and evaluate water quality. Students performed chemical analysis (D.O., pH, conductivity, silica, nitrates, phosphates), physical analysis (substrate, canopy, stream profile, stream flow), and biological analysis (collected and counted diatoms/periphyton scrubbed off of cobbles in the river). We will revisit the river in the spring to see if there are any changes.
