APC DELTA GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE TO INJECT N10 BILLION ON EMPOWERMENT, SHINES AT UPU EVENT. All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, attended the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) youth interactive session today December 21 and gave good account of himself. However, great Ogboru of the Labour Party did not show up at the event as expected. Olorogun Emerhor re-assured Deltans that his government, if elected in 2015, will eradicate corruption and financial leakages which in the past frustrated socio-economic development in the State, a situation he said must not be allowed to continue in 2015 and beyond. He expressed absolute displeasure over the high rate of unemployment which hitherto forced thousands of graduates and youth to ride Okada and do all sorts of unskilled labour to keep body and soul together. The APC candidate revealed that his administration will adequately fund Local Government Councils to enable them assist government in providing qualitative and affordable education to facilitate the restoration of the falling standard of education in Delta State. He decried the poor state of infrastructure in the state and promise to budget substantial amount in annual budgets to tackle decay in infrastructure, bad roads, low agricultural produce especially huge funding of cassava production through partnership with local agric cooperative societies. He told thousands of youth who gathered to hear his plans for Delta State that within first one hundred days in office, N10 billion (Ten Billion Naira) will be disbursed through microfinance banks and other local financial institutions that will serve as ACCESS POINT for empowerment at the local government levels. Olorogun Emerhor further explained that the wisdom behind access point is to commence the eradication of acute poverty and gradually use same platform to bring economic prosperity to Deltans at the grassroots while government will revive moribund industries and create enabling environment for the establishment of new ones across the state as a means of creating thousands of jobs. Olorogun Emerhor lamented the high level of financial recklessness exhibited since 1999 by successive governments in Delta State and promise to use the state financial and other resources for the rapid development of the three senatorial districts. He urged Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party (LP) to support him this time around to fly the consensus flag of the Urhobo Nation, pointing out that he supported Ogboru in the past but could not deliver. He promise to uphold the aspirations of UPU and also to be fair and just to all Deltans irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation. Olorogun Emerhor told the gathering that APC is the second national party in Nigeria with people oriented programmes and as such will deliver the dividend of democracy to Deltans if elected in 2015. The APC candidate was compelled by the youth executives to dance with them on stage as they chorused: OLOROGUN OTEGA FOR GOVERNOR, NO CHALLENGE
