APC: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? With a myriad of problems surrounding thier registration and its subsequent acceptance as a merger by the INEC. APC has many issues to contend with to rise beyond others and cling power from the ruling party. Having undergone a merger like no other in the poilitical history of Nigeria which has been a consolidation from three political parties CPC,ACN.APGA being the lead players then the questions are What are their set objectives? How are they going to share the political offices n candidates among the parties? How can they contend with others judging that they are very tribalised and religiously centered? Firstly we are at home at the games of the military when they take over the government, they always profess to rid the system of the atrocities of the past regime but after all said and done the status quo never got changed. So am tempted to ask the objectives of APC since they claim that PDP is corrupting the whole system but if we watch carefully we know that this people are off-spring of PDP and probably frustrated with their modus operandi the likes of Dr Chris Ngige, they accuse them of all manner of illegality, arbitral use of power with particular reference to the selection of candidates by God fathers and serving the nation "salad of corruption"but i wonder if they are by any means better off. Anambra guber election is under way and the first fruit of APC probably a litmus test to their aims and the hirachy has anointed Ngige to contest neglecting the statutory provision for primaries which ultimately produces a flag bearer, is it not a caricature and a direct opposite to what they made us believe they stand for. Even PDP in its madness do conduct primaries not-withstanding that the question about it being fair is an entire ball game. Secondly as a modus vivendi the offices and respective positions and even political candidature ought to be shared among the mergers then we wonder the type of allocation formular that will be used to satisfy the interest of the team with a bunch of old politicians like TInubu hunting for positions what is the case of the youth, the acclaimed future leaders and other interested parties.which defunt party or tribe will produce the next presidential or guber candidates because as things stand now its hard to believe that an arrangement willfavour every partner. With Fashola a ACN defunt member having an interest,Rochas of APGA having an interest and Buhari of CPC also nursing an ambition. Thirdly the bane of Nigeria politics had been tribalism and religious sentiment and these twin enemies is a hurdle for them to overcome . With CPC moslem in nature and of northern origin and the ACN also comprises of christian and moslem but from the West while the APGA faction is of Christian standing and based in the EAST. Then how sure are we that these ethnic traits and sentiments wont affect their aims am not saying that the parts cannot form a whole but the problem is that those parties unlike PDP aint national parties since they were tribe conscious and always have the aim of their region in mind like the AG,NCNC and NPC of old,so they will be having a hitch transforming into a national party even the great AWO and ZIK in 1979 and 1983 could not perform this since they always leave a trail of sentiments following them. Finally i believe and is my personal opinion that leaders of this merger have their respective agenda which they intend to execute from ANPP to APP from CPC and then to APC the likes of Buhari has been manifesting their sheer political ambitions and this latest development is not a step too far from the previous ones no matter the larger than life attitude they tend to display. I believe a perfect study of our political travails and the journey to democracy one will understand that it has been about individual interest and is not all about the masses and to effect this change we must look inwards to discover our problems forming a coalition or another stronger party is not the solution the panacea it is YOU,I and our country and two parties just like the Democrats and Republicans of the United States whose aim is all about the electorates and how to convince them with quality service delivery the masses vote for the party with the necessay manifesto to see them through the dividends of democracy. Our politician should toe this line to ensure their continual relevance in the political sphere of our great nation From Emmanuel Carnegie Reporting from Enugu,Nigeria
