APC post convention conflict: Amaechi says he was not betrayed by Tinubu/Buahari Following the defeat oof candidates fronted by River State Governor Rotimi Amaechi at last saturdays national convention of APC, the factional Nigeria Governor Forum chairman has said that the outcome does not mean that he been betrayed. He said reports of betrayal and disunity in the party are untrue and baseless. Amaechi and APC governors promoted Timipre Sylva as their preferred candidate. Buhari and Tinubu, however, overruled the governors. Commenting on analysis suggesting he was of betrayed by national leaders of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari on his social media twitter handle stated that the rumour was orchestrated by those he accused of harbouring fears over the outcome of next year’s election. “Yes, it’s not true. That rubbish about me, Tinubu and Buhari and some stupid talk about betrayal! It’s 419 news by those who are afraid of APC,” he tweeted. “It’s a political smear campaign to divide and destroy the APC after our very successful convention. The success of the convention sent a…” Amaechi then sent out a message of his own. “Very strong message to them that we (APC) are indeed stronger, in a better position and ready to provide that CHANGE Nigerians really want.” “That cooked, fake report is another shameless, useless and futile attempt by them to stop the APC. #APC=Change=BetterNigeria,” he tweeted again.
