APCPDCL urged power men to drop strike Hyderabad: Suresh Chanda, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, APTransco, K. Vijayanand, IAS, Managing Director, APGenco and S.A.M. Rizvi, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, APCPDCL on Wednesday appealed to Electricity employees, who have served a ‘strike notice’ to reconsider their proposed strike taking the prevailing power situation in the State into cognition. Addressing the media at APGenco Main Conference Hall, Vidyut Soudha, they said certain sections of Electricity Employees, under APGenco, APTransco and AP DISCOMs have served a ‘Strike Notice’ that they would stop attending to their duties at their respective places of postings from September 12 in protest against the issue of bifurcation of the State. “On behalf of all the Power Utilities in the State i.e. APGENCO, APTRANSCO and APDISCOMs, we appeal to all those Electricity employees, who have served ‘Strike Notice’ to reconsider their proposed strike, taking the prevailing situation of power in the State into cognition. We would like to remind you all that the State has been undergoing a severe power crisis and financial crisis for the past two years particularly, due to the severe shortage of natural gas and depleted water levels in the reservoirs of Hydel Power Stations. This year, fortunately due to the decent rainfall and good inflows into the Krishna river, the State was getting good quantum of Hydel power, which helped the Power Utilities as well as the consumers. Under the circumstances, if a larger number of engineers and workmen proceed on strike, it may hamper the Grid system and would affect the consumer service badly. We would also like to appeal to the staff that this may further worsen the financial situation of the power utilities, which is hardly able to manage ‘hand to mouth’. “We appeal to all the Electricity Employees that since Electricity is an essential part of life, catering to the needs of every day requirements like Drinking Water system, Hospitals, Railways, Lighting etc, we have our duty to arrange power supply to the consumers. Once again, we make an appeal to the staff, who have given strike notice to reconsider their decision in the public interest.
